The Sexual Assault & Family Violence Centre is a well-established not-for-profit organisation with a strong history of supporting Victorian communities since 1978. The Centre delivers integrated specialist services across crisis response, early intervention, therapeutic support, education and prevention for individuals and families impacted by sexual and family violence. Operating across the Barwon, Wimmera and South West Victorian regions, the SAFV Centre works in partnership with communities and service systems to provide accessible, coordinated and trauma-informed support. The organisation also delivers the Victims Assistance Program across Barwon and the South West region, supporting victims of crime more broadly. With a strong commitment to recovery, safety, inclusion and prevention, the SAFV Centre plays a vital role in supporting individuals while working to promote gender equality and prevent violence.
The People & Culture Lead is a pivotal leadership role responsible for delivering a contemporary, integrated HR function that supports SAFV Centre’s strategy, values and workforce priorities. Partnering closely with the Executive Director People, Culture, Safety & Risk and the broader leadership team, you will provide strategic and operational advice across the full employee lifecycle. You will lead key P&C initiatives, strengthen organisational capability and culture, and ensure the consistent delivery of compliant, practical and best-practice people programs, policies and processes. A key focus of the role will be supporting complex employee and industrial relations matters, contributing to enterprise agreement processes, and using workforce data and insights to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. You will also lead the day-to-day operations of the People & Culture team, coaching and mentoring team members while fostering a proactive, solutions-focused and service-oriented approach. This is an opportunity to shape and mature the People & Culture function within a complex, purpose-driven organisation. You will have genuine scope to influence workforce strategy, strengthen leadership capability and contribute to an environment where people can do meaningful, high-impact work.
You are an experienced HR professional with demonstrated capability across employee and industrial relations, and a strong track record in a Senior P&C Business Partner or P&C leadership role. You will bring experience partnering with executives and senior leaders, along with the ability to lead a small team to deliver high-quality, business-aligned P&C outcomes. This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys both strategic and operational delivery and will be comfortable moving between hands-on advice, policy and process improvement, and leadership coaching through to the development of longer-term people initiatives. You are a skilled communicator and trusted relationship builder, with the ability to influence, coach and support leaders to strengthen capability and accountability in people management. Highly organised and adaptable, you are comfortable working in a complex, evolving environment and can balance competing priorities with sound judgement and care. You bring a thoughtful, values-led approach and understand the importance of safe, inclusive and trauma-informed workplace practices. Experience within the community services or family violence sector, along with relevant qualifications or AHRI membership, will be highly regarded.
