About the Company
Our client is a large global, multi-entity organisation operating across Australia, with a workforce of more than 3,000 employees. With over eight employing entities and a complex payroll landscape, they are embarking on a significant ERP implementation to modernise and streamline payroll operations.
This is a genuine transformation program, and the payroll function is front and centre.
About the Role
You will work closely with the Head of Payroll and the ERP provider to roll out the system implementation workstream across the organisation. You’ll be the link between technical configuration and real-world payroll compliance.
Key responsibilities include:
- Mapping current payroll processes against the future-state design and identifying gaps, risks and optimisation opportunities
- Leading front-end configuration of pay rules, earnings codes, deductions and statutory settings within the new ERP
- Ensuring accurate configuration and testing of tax, STP reporting, Payday Super and other legislative obligations
- Interpreting and embedding compliance requirements across multiple Awards and EBAs into system logic
- Developing and executing comprehensive test plans (unit testing, parallel runs, UAT and regression testing)
- Partnering with internal stakeholders including IT, finance, rostering/time & attendance and data migration teams
- Managing external vendors and ERP consultants to ensure payroll requirements are translated correctly
- Overseeing payroll data cleansing, validation and migration activities across eight entities
- Supporting integration design between payroll, rostering, HR and finance systems
- Driving change management, stakeholder engagement and end-user training
- Leading system roll-out activities and stabilisation support post go-live
- Establishing documentation, controls and governance frameworks for the new environment
This is an 18-month fixed-term contract with genuine scope, complexity and impact.

About You
- Extensive payroll leadership experience within medium-to-large, multi-entity organisations
- Proven experience delivering payroll system implementations or major ERP integrations
- Strong technical understanding of payroll configuration, STP, taxation and Payday Super requirements
- Deep knowledge of Award and EBA interpretation and system rule application
- Confident managing vendors and cross-functional project teams
- Detail-driven, structured and calm under pressure
- Able to translate payroll speak into system logic (and vice versa)
