Payroll Coordinator

Government & Defence

About the Company

This progressive local government organisation is committed to enhancing the quality of life for its community. With a diverse workforce of over 1,500 employees, it values communication, collaboration, integrity, efficiency, and leadership.

About the Role

As Payroll Coordinator, you will manage end-to-end weekly payroll operations for over 1,600 employees while leading a team of five. From March 2026, your focus will expand to include significant involvement in the ElevateHR Project—supporting the implementation of Workday HCM and Aurion Payroll ahead of a go-live in late June. You’ll be responsible for establishing a duplicate payroll team to enable parallel pay processing and ensure a smooth transition from legacy systems, including Kronos, EC Payroll, and SAP SuccessFactors.

About You

You bring proven experience coordinating payroll in a medium to large organisation and are adept at leading teams through change. You're confident managing concurrent payroll systems, have worked on system implementations (including parallel runs), and can quickly build trust across project and operational teams. Experience with Workday, Aurion, or current systems is highly desirable, though not essential.

The Benefits

  • Opportunity to lead a critical transition project
  • Contract stability through to 31 July 2026
  • Work with a supportive and values-driven leadership team
