Davidson is partnering with a Queensland state government client seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Legal Officers/Assessment Officers to join their Eligibility Assessment team.
About the Role
In this role, you will:
- Assess employment screening applications by reviewing file information, identifying gaps, and requesting further details where necessary.
- Apply legislative knowledge and legal expertise to conduct risk assessments in the best interests of children and young people.
- Conduct oral submissions with applicants and accurately document the content.
- Analyse file information to determine the sufficiency of evidence and prepare recommendations regarding applicant eligibility.
- Draft correspondence and legal documents for internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage case files to ensure timely and efficient processing.
- Conduct legal research and maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation.
- Provide procedural and legislative advice to internal stakeholders and respond to external enquiries.
- Contribute to a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
- Support the organisation’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Law, Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field.
- Expertise in one or more of the following: administrative law, criminal law, child protection, domestic and family violence, mental health, social work, or substance abuse.
- Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret and apply complex legislation.
- Experience drafting legal or technical reports and recommendations.
- Excellent time management and the ability to prioritise competing tasks.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to contribute positively to a team environment.
- A commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful workplace, including resilience in managing exposure to potentially distressing material.
The Benefits
- Between $49.33 – $65.66 per hour + Super
- Brisbane CBD location
