About the Role
In this role, you will provide technical and fieldwork support across a wide range of marine and freshwater environments.
You’ll assist with sample collection, laboratory tasks, data analysis, and the maintenance of scientific equipment that underpins the water quality monitoring and research programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct fieldwork in marine and freshwater environments, including from boats, riverbanks, creeks, lakes, and coastal areas.
- Collect water, sediment, and related environmental samples in accordance with procedures.
- Undertake laboratory-based tasks, including sample preparation, storage, and routine analyses.
- Support data management activities, including data entry, QA/QC, interpretation, and reporting.
- Perform calibration, troubleshooting, and routine maintenance of scientific instruments (e.g., water quality meters).
- Assist with procurement and contract coordination (desirable but not essential)
About You
- Experienced in water sampling or environmental fieldwork – OR has strong transferable skills and a willingness to be trained.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varied field environments and weather conditions.
- Able to perform hands-on tasks involving boats, water edges, and sampling equipment.
- Available for an immediate or near-immediate start.
- Organised, detail-oriented, and able to follow established scientific procedures.
- A good communicator and team player who works well in fast-paced project environments.
