The Opportunity

We’ve partnered with a large, insurance organisation with service delivery centres across the globe, embarking on a multi-year program to redesign its operating model, portfolio management, sourcing strategy and delivery capabilities.

We are seeking an experienced Operating Model & Organisation Design Director to lead this workstream – designing, stress-testing and embedding the TOM across multiple geographies, and ensuring it is supported by practical artefacts, governance, change management and capability building.

The Operating Model workstream will define a technology-focused Target Operating Model (TOM) that clarifies roles, accountabilities and workflows across global teams.

This role is highly visible and influential, working closely with C-suite and senior leaders across business, technology, HR, Finance, Sourcing and Risk.


Key Responsibilities

• Lead the Operating Model workstream, owning scope, outcomes, roadmap and operating rhythm.
• Design a technology-focused target operating model for a multinational insurer, including structure, capabilities, roles, accountabilities and interfaces with business and vendors.
• Shape the model for large, complex global teams, including onshore/offshore structures, multi-vendor arrangements and global/local interaction patterns.
• Define and implement core workflows (demand, prioritisation, delivery, run/support, vendor and financial management) aligned to the target model and agile ways of working.
• Align the TOM with portfolio management and delivery practices in partnership with other workstream leaders.
• Design governance forums, decision rights and escalation paths connecting business owners, technology teams and external partners.
• Develop practical artefacts (e.g. playbooks, process maps, service catalogues, interaction models) to support adoption at scale.
• Lead structured change management: stakeholder engagement, communications, training and adoption tracking.
• Coach and support leaders and teams to operate effectively within the new model.

About You

You are a senior operating model / organisation design leader with deep technology and financial services experience and are comfortable advising at C-suite level.

You will bring:

• 15+ years’ experience in operating model and organisation design, focused on technology and digital in large, complex global insurance or financial services organisations.
• Proven experience designing and implementing target operating models across multiple geographies, including onshore/offshore and multi-vendor environments.
• Deep experience designing for large global teams – spans & layers, role clarity, capability models and interaction patterns between business, technology and vendors.
• Strong track record in workflow and process design and implementation, ideally enabled by tooling and automation.
• Demonstrated experience planning and rolling out operating model and org design changes through structured change programs.
• Exceptional communication skills – able to navigate ambiguity and present insights, decisions and strategies clearly and coherently to senior stakeholders.
• Strong collaboration skills with HR, Finance, Sourcing, Risk and other corporate functions.
• Highly structured, analytical and pragmatic mindset, with a “one team” approach.
