About the Role

Reporting to senior leadership, the OHS Manager is responsible for leading the organisation’s occupational health, safety, and wellbeing function on a six-month contract. This role will drive the development and implementation of contemporary safety strategies, systems, and frameworks, ensuring alignment with organisational objectives and Victorian legislative requirements.

You will operate as a trusted advisor to executives and business units, embedding a strong, values-led safety culture and ensuring safety is integrated into all aspects of operations.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy and Policy Development

  • Develop, implement, and review safety and wellbeing strategies, policies, and an annual OHS plan aligned with organisational objectives.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to senior executives and business units on OHS strategy, compliance, and legislative requirements.

Safety Systems and Compliance

  • Develop, implement, and maintain safety systems, practices, procedures, and standards across all activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Victorian OHS legislation, relevant regulations, and industry standards.
  • Support business units to meet OHS obligations and embed safety into day-to-day operations.

Risk Management and Incident Response

  • Lead and support risk assessments, incident investigations, site inspections, and audits.
  • Identify, assess, and manage workplace hazards, including psychosocial risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Committees and Reporting

  • Establish and coordinate the Safety Committee, ensuring effective governance, accurate documentation, and timely follow-up of actions.
  • Monitor safety and wellbeing performance metrics and deliver insightful reporting to leadership, including recommendations for continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external stakeholders, regulators, and industry partners.
  • Act as the central point of contact for all OHS matters.

Employee Wellbeing and Psychosocial Safety

  • Lead initiatives to identify and manage psychosocial risks in line with Victorian legislation.
  • Develop and implement programs that promote employee wellbeing and psychologically safe workplaces.
  • Provide guidance and support for mental health and wellbeing initiatives across the organisation.

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior OHS leadership role within a complex or regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Victorian OHS legislation and contemporary safety practices, including psychosocial risk management.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders.
  • Experience building and embedding safety management systems and driving cultural change.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Occupational Health & Safety or a related discipline.
