Non-Executive Board Director

CEO & General Management

  • Lead clinical excellence and safety as Chair of a key Board committee
  • Drive national impact on youth mental health at Board level
  • Use your strategic governance and clinical insights to shape youth mental health support

Davidson is delighted to be partnering with headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation to appoint a Non-Executive Director to its Board. headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation is a world leading organisation which enables a network of over 170 headspace services and national programs to provide a safe and welcoming environment for young people seeking support for their mental health and wellbeing. Each year headspace provides direct support to over 100,000 young people in the areas of mental health, general and physical health, work and study support, and alcohol and other drug services.

Their work is highly visible in communities to reduce stigma associated with mental health and to lower barriers which may prevent young people from reaching out for support. Additionally, headspace collaborates with young people, families, governments, schools, universities, health and community services, and increasingly with Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

Reporting to the Board Chair, the Non-Executive Director is responsible for providing high-level strategic oversight and contributing actively to Board discussions and decisions. The successful appointee will also chair four Quality and Clinical Governance Committee meetings each year, advising the Board on clinical governance, quality, and risk to ensure that headspace continues to uphold the highest standards in clinical practice and service delivery nationally. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of a highly respected national organisation committed to improving the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged 12-25.

To be successful in this role, you will be a qualified health practitioner with professional registration in Australia. You will bring substantial expertise in clinical governance, quality, risk, and safety standards within mental health, with a particular understanding of services for young people. Equally important is your ability to build genuine connection and rapport with young people, and to navigate conversations with empathy and resilience, especially when engaging with families and individuals who have lived experience of suicide and mental health challenges. This is a remunerated Board position offering the chance to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of young Australians.
