Network and Things Lead | Contract – Initial 6 Months | Brisbane
The Opportunity
Our client is one of Queensland's largest and most essential infrastructure organisations, operating a 24/7 network that directly supports the daily lives of over 1.5 million residents and tens of thousands of commercial customers across Greater Brisbane and surrounds.
This is a senior leadership contract role within the Digital and Information group. You'll lead the team responsible for keeping Core, IT, OT and IoT network services running at optimal performance, managing BAU operations, vendors, change, and incidents across a genuinely complex, multi-domain environment.
It's a rare role in the market. Most network lead positions sit in one domain. This one spans three — and the infrastructure you're protecting underpins essential services for the Greater Brisbane community.
What You'll Be Doing
- Leading network operations across IT, OT and IoT infrastructure to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Managing a team of 6+ engineers and contractors, setting performance targets and developing capability
- Overseeing incident, problem, change and service request management aligned to ITIL standards
- Managing vendor relationships and holding suppliers accountable to contractual obligations and KPIs
- Advising on network architecture design and contributing to infrastructure roadmaps
- Maintaining operational documentation and ensuring security and compliance standards are met
- Developing and testing disaster recovery plans and availability management processes
- Providing specialist advice to operational leadership and translating strategy into operations
What We're Looking For
- 8–10 years in network infrastructure management across complex, multi-site environments
- Demonstrated experience leading and developing technical teams
- Strong knowledge across IT, OT and IoT network domains — LAN, WAN, VPN, industrial networks
- Experience in regulated or critical infrastructure environments (APRA, SOCI or similar)
- Vendor and contract management experience with a track record of driving supplier performance
- Relevant networking certifications advantageous (CCNA/CCNP, ITIL)
- Bachelor's degree in IT, Engineering or a related field preferred
- Availability for on-call duties — this is a 24/7 critical service
