About the Opportunity

As part of a company-wide strategic transformation, with focus on continued future success, this is an exciting opportunity to join a market leading manufacturing organization that is investing in best practice supply chain processes across Australia as it looks to design and implement a unified national transport model across its Australian footprint.

This position will report to the GM Supply Chain and is responsible for freight and logistics operations nationally. A key priority of this appointment will be to define the national transport strategy and ensure cohesion and integration of the state-based operations, including service models, cost optimization and a digital enablement roadmap.

In pursuit of future state success, this role will ensure the standardization of best practice, optimizing transport efficiency and supporting strategic transformation initiatives. This role will play a key leadership role to attain consistency in route and load optimization and support the implementation of a new Transport Management System (TMS).

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Lead the work stream review and national standardization of transport practices.
  • Develop process maps to support the new TMS, ensuring alignment with operational needs and business goals.
  • Collaboration with key stakeholders and business unit heads to support freight strategies that underpin growth, efficiency and customer service excellence.
  • Ensure full operational oversight of transport functions
  • Manage third-party relationships with carriers including contract negotiation and supplier selection.
  • Optimise route planning, load utilization and scheduling
  • Prioritise Safety and compliance with Heavy Vehicle National Law (HVNL)
  • Ensure detailed performance and cost optimization reviews are analysed and meaningful kpi’s created and acted upon.
  • Champion innovation, digitization and ongoing continuous improvement activities.

Is this You?

You will be a highly experienced supply chain & logistics expert who will have a track record of demonstrable success in managing a full suite of freight, transport and distribution-centered responsibilities. You will have managed and led a national foot print working across all states and multiple locations whilst providing motivational leadership to a sizeable team and a broad array of direct reports. In additional to your operational excellence, you will exhibit obvious strategic thinking, a change management mindset and a data driven approach to process improvement and innovation.

In short, you will be a highly experienced freight and logistics manager who has successfully crafted a high performance team with national scope and multi-site responsibilities whilst leveraging insights and fact based dashboards to underpin your inspirational leadership and crisp decision-making.
