The branch leads a broad suite of community services including children’s services, parenting and family support, maternal and child health, youth services and services for older Victorians, ensuring accessibility and equity for all members of the community. At the heart of this sits this portfolio, where Maternal and Child Health services are delivered as part of a genuinely holistic, integrated model. Reporting to the Manager Family and Children’s Services, the MCH Services – Nurse Coordinator provides strategic leadership and governance across the Family Health portfolio, ensuring services are future focused, accessible and aligned to both Council priorities and state policy reform. This is a pivotal leadership role that balances big picture thinking with operational oversight, guiding service delivery while shaping long term direction in a complex and evolving environment. Leading through a team of experienced coordinators and clinicians, you will foster a constructive, values led culture that empowers, builds capability and supports continuous improvement.

To be successful in this role, you will bring the ability to lead within a genuinely integrated, wraparound service model, working alongside parenting services, counselling, family support to ensure Maternal and Child Health is embedded in a way that improves access, experience and outcomes for families. You will build strong partnerships both within Council and externally with hospitals, community health providers, education and sector stakeholders, while confidently representing Council at state level policy forums, sector committees and inter-governmental initiatives, advocating for the importance of early years and Maternal and Child Health services. A contemporary and values driven leader, you will bring both strategic insight and operational depth, underpinned by tertiary qualifications in Maternal and Child Health nursing and current AHPRA registration. You will also bring proven experience leading multidisciplinary teams in complex environments, with demonstrated strengths in workforce leadership, translating evidence into practice and engaging stakeholders to deliver meaningful community impact.
