SEC is building an enterprising and dynamic team to accelerate Victoria’s transition to renewables and help achieve Victoria’s renewable energy target of 95% by 2035. We are working together for renewable, affordable, reliable energy for all Victorians.
Your role
As a Market Analyst in the Energy Markets Analytics team, you will deliver insights that inform critical long-term decisions across the organisation. With PLEXOS

Supported by programming skills in Python, R, or SQL, and proficiency in Excel, Power BI, or Tableau, you will combine technical expertise with strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills to deliver value in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
This role can be based in either our Melbourne CBD office or our regional office located in Morwell.

Core accountabilities include:
- Modelling & forecasting: Enhance SEC’s market modelling capabilities, including short-term probabilistic forecasts, long-term capacity expansion, and dispatch optimisation models. Improve integration, quality, and usability of outputs to support strategic decision-making.
- Scenario analysis: Contribute to developing energy transition scenarios by applying market expertise and judgement, and support documentation of assumptions and scenarios for stakeholder and Board endorsement.
- Project due diligence: Partner with internal teams and external advisors to assess prospective investments and support asset and contract valuations, contributing to analysis and reporting.
- Data management & visualisation: Improve the collection, organisation, analysis, and visualisation of market data from sources such as AEMO, ASX Energy Futures, and SEC systems.
