- Lead a values-driven regional utility at a defining moment of growth, transformation and investment
- Drive long-term water security, climate resilience and infrastructure outcomes for one of Victoria’s fastest growing regions
- Shape the future of an organisation central to community wellbeing and regional prosperity
Goulburn Valley Water (GVW) is a leading regional water corporation delivering water, wastewater and trade waste services to more than 150,000 people across northern Victoria. Stretching from the rapidly growing outskirts of Melbourne through to the Murray River, GVW supports some of Australia’s most significant food manufacturing and processing operations, including SPC, Campbells, Unilever, Noumi and Bega, while servicing 54 towns across a diverse and expansive geographic region.
GVW’s Strategy 2035 establishes a bold vision for the future to think beyond water. While continuing to deliver safe, reliable water and wastewater services, the organisation is focused on supporting the transition to a low carbon, low water future through innovation, collaboration and strong community partnerships. With deep connections across industry, government, Traditional Owners and local communities, GVW is uniquely positioned to influence regional liveability, environmental stewardship and long-term economic sustainability.
The organisation is entering a significant period of infrastructure expansion and transformation, with major investment planned to address population growth, asset renewals, evolving regulatory standards, water security and climate resilience.
Reporting to a highly capable and engaged Board, the Managing Director will lead the organisation through this next phase of strategic growth and sector change. Balancing customer expectations, affordability, operational performance and sustainability, you will guide a large asset-intensive organisation operating within a highly regulated environment while maintaining a strong focus on safety, culture and community outcomes.
The successful candidate will bring demonstrated executive leadership experience within complex infrastructure, utilities or similarly regulated environments. You will possess strong commercial, financial and strategic capability, with experience leading significant capital investment programs, organisational transformation and stakeholder engagement across government, industry and community. You will be recognised for your ability to build trusted relationships with Boards, Ministers, regulators, customers, Traditional Owners, industry and regional stakeholders, while providing credible advocacy and leadership within the broader water sector.
A visible and authentic leader, you will foster a high-performing, values-led culture grounded in collaboration, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement. With a clear customer and community focus, you will position GVW to respond to emerging challenges including climate change, water security, technological disruption and evolving customer expectations.
This is an outstanding opportunity to lead an organisation of critical regional significance at a pivotal time for the water sector, shaping outcomes that will have lasting impact across communities, industry and the environment for generations to come.
