- Be at the forefront of significant energy market reform in the NT
- Influence major energy market, customer and commercial decisions
- Unlock new value across TGen’s diverse generation portfolio
Territory Generation (TGen) is the Northern Territory’s trusted energy services business and largest wholesale electricity generator, playing a critical role in powering communities, businesses and industry across the Territory. We own and operate eight power stations, with a diverse generation portfolio spanning gas, diesel, solar, biofuel and battery energy storage.
As the Northern Territory’s energy landscape evolves, TGen is investing in new technologies and energy solutions while maintaining the reliability, affordability and system security essential to the Territory’s future.
Reporting to the General Manager Commercial and Business Development, the Manager Wholesale, Retail and Regulation will lead TGen’s revenue and commercial market operations across energy markets, market reform, major contracts, regulation and customer relationships.
The next 12 months represent a particularly significant period as the Northern Territory’s new electricity market structure takes shape. You will represent TGen through the market reform process, influence the development of market rules and commercial frameworks, and establish new contractual arrangements that position TGen strongly within the evolving market.
You will lead the commercial analysis, negotiation and management of major wholesale, retail, fuel supply and Power Purchase Agreements, oversee commercial regulatory obligations and help establish new arrangements for TGen’s regulated systems in Alice Springs and Tennant Creek. As TGen’s customer and project portfolio grows, you will also explore new commercial models and business opportunities, including potential relationships with major energy users across the Territory.
Working closely with the Executive Leadership Team, Board and a broad range of government, regulatory, customer and industry stakeholders, you will provide strategic advice on market developments, commercial opportunities and risk. You will also lead a small specialist team and support the continued uplift of TGen’s commercial analytics, systems and processes.
To be considered for this role, you will bring senior experience across energy markets, commercial strategy, regulation, wholesale, retail, trading or a closely related environment. You will have strong knowledge of electricity market structures and commercial contracting, with experience in the NEM, WEM or another complex energy market highly relevant.
You will bring demonstrated experience negotiating complex commercial agreements and translating market, regulatory and policy developments into practical commercial outcomes. Strong commercial and financial judgement, stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills will be essential. TGen welcomes candidates from both public and private sector energy environments who can bring commercial thinking while operating effectively within a Government Owned Corporation.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape TGen’s commercial position at a pivotal time for the Northern Territory energy market, with significant scope to influence how the organisation captures value from its assets, customers and future opportunities.
