Reporting to the Director Planning and Sustainable Futures, this role will lead and manage the Planning and Building Department to deliver high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused services. You will provide strong and focused leadership to support the Council’s vision as a high-performing, customer-oriented organisation. You will foster innovation and a ‘can-do’ culture to help achieve Council’s objectives. You will ensure compliance with planning and building legislation and oversee all statutory functions, enforcement, and prosecution processes related to planning and building compliance. You will drive continuous improvement in service quality, operating systems, and business processes to deliver best-practice customer service. You will also develop and implement effective policies and procedures to ensure compliance and a proactive approach to regulation.

To be considered for this role, you will hold a Tertiary qualification in the field of Town Planning or a related discipline, and bring extensive experience in Statutory Planning and Building. You bring demonstrated experience in the development of strategic documents, manage key services, and oversee statutory responsibilities. This role requires specialist expertise in planning and compliance, project and contract management, and strong leadership in staff and resource management. You will also bring proven skills in budgeting and financial management, community engagement, and a solid understanding of the legislative environment relevant to planning and building services. This is a dynamic leadership role ideal for someone with a strategic mindset and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes for the community.
