Located just 30km from Melbourne’s CBD, Wyndham is a rapidly changing community which is said to double in the next twenty years. As part of the Senior Leadership Team, this role will contribute to shaping and delivering the Council’s strategic vision and drive an organisational culture that delivers Our Wyndham, Towards 2040 and high-quality services and outcomes for the community.

Reporting to the Director City Life, this critical role will lead Wyndham’s Libraries & Community Centres. In this senior leadership role, you will be responsible for driving a high-performance, customer-centric culture aligned strategic objectives, while exploring different models to increase Council’s financial sustainability. You will lead and empower a diverse team across multiple sites, oversee service planning, and champion continuous improvement to enhance community engagement and customer experience. A key focus will be promoting services to government and community stakeholders, expanding partnerships, and ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all community members. The role also involves driving innovation in digital service delivery, ensuring health and safety compliance, and using evidence-based research to guide future service planning. As the face of Council’s library and community centre services, you will actively represent the organisation at meetings and events, fostering strong relationships and delivering meaningful outcomes for the community.

We are seeking a future focused, dynamic and contemporary leader with a proven track record operating in complex, cost constrained and fast-paced environments. You will bring demonstrated expertise in strategic business planning, service delivery, project management, and leading high-performing teams, to ensure operational excellence. Your sound understanding of financial, contractual, and administrative procedures will support the delivery of innovative service improvements and business efficiencies within a tight fiscal environment. With strong knowledge of relevant legislation, particularly privacy, and extensive experience in customer service—ideally within library services—you will have a passion for enhancing customer experience through transformation and design. Proficiency in digital technologies and systems, coupled with exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, will see you thrive in this role. Excellent time management and the ability to juggle competing priorities are essential.
