Manager Infrastructure Projects

Government & Defence

  • Lead major infrastructure investment across a diverse region
  • Drive performance, change, and community impact
  • Enjoy balance and lifestyle in beautiful East Gippsland

East Gippsland is a natural playground with over 21,000 square kilometres of diverse landscapes, from high country and pristine lakes to nine national parks and two marine parks. The region is home to thriving communities, a growing economy and an enviable lifestyle, offering the best of both professional challenge and regional living. East Gippsland Shire Council plays a vital role in shaping this future, working collaboratively with the community to deliver essential services and infrastructure that make a lasting difference across one of Victoria’s most unique and dynamic regions.

East Gippsland Shire Council is seeking an experienced and forward-thinking infrastructure leader to manage the planning, design and delivery of its significant capital works program - currently valued at approximately $80 million. Reporting to the General Manager Assets and Environment, you will lead a multidisciplinary team of around 20 professionals through a period of change and strengthening of project delivery systems. This is a pivotal leadership role with oversight of the capital delivery program, asset renewal and major infrastructure projects, requiring the ability to balance strategic planning with operational excellence while fostering collaboration and continuous improvement.

This is a role where you can see the tangible impact of your work. Current and upcoming projects include the $15 million extension of the Bairnsdale Airport, the final stages of a $9 million soccer precinct, a $10 millionyacht club/community hubredevelopment, the design of an indoor sports facility at Lakes Entrance, and road renewals and upgrades across 3,000 km of local roads. You will also play a key role in delivering walking trails, community facilities and grant-funded programs that shape the region’s future. With a strong focus on project management maturity, you’ll drive best practice and strengthen performance across an engaged, community-minded organisation.

We are seeking a collaborative and adaptable people leader who thrives in complex environments and brings a balance of technical expertise, emotional intelligence and strategic insight. You will demonstrate strong stakeholder management capability, political and community awareness, and the ability to lead teams through change with clarity and purpose. Your background may be in local government, the private sector or another large-scale infrastructure setting - what matters most is your capacity to deliver, engage and inspire. If you’re ready to make a lasting difference in one of Victoria’s most beautiful and forward-thinking regions, this is an opportunity to lead meaningful change and contribute to a community that truly values progress.
