Management Accountant - Gatton Based

Accounting

About the Company

Our client is a highly regarded agriculture research organisation that combines the rural traditions of its Queensland Agricultural College heritage with innovative research and teaching facilities. Based at the Gatton campus, the organisation partners with industry, government, and researchers to deliver impactful projects that advance agriculture, sustainability and environmental outcomes.

About the Role

This is a true business partnering position with a strong focus on projects. Reporting to the Senior Management Accountant, you will provide financial advice and project accounting services to senior project leaders and grant holders. Your work will directly support decision making around cost management, grant compliance, budgeting and forecasting.

Success in this role comes from your ability to work autonomously. You will partner with stakeholders, guide project leaders and provide insights that shape financial strategies without needing to rely heavily on a team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partnering with project leaders to provide financial advice and support
  • Developing and managing project budgets, forecasts and reporting
  • Ensuring compliance with governance frameworks, policies and funding requirements
  • Preparing business cases to guide strategy and prioritisation
  • Building trusted relationships as the go-to financial advisor for your portfolio

This position offers a hybrid working model with 2 days in office and 3 days working from home

About You

We are seeking a proactive and confident accounting professional who thrives in an advisory and project-based environment.

You will bring:

  • Degree qualifications in Accounting, Business or Commerce (CPA or CA qualified or working towards)
  • Strong financial accounting, analysis and reporting skills
  • Proven experience in project accounting and business partnering
  • The ability to work independently and take ownership of your portfolio
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • Experience advising in complex, compliance-driven environments

Benefits

  • Hybrid model: 2 days in office and 3 days working from home
  • Competitive salary package with 17% superannuation
  • Be recognised as a true business partner, not just a back-office accountant
  • Opportunity to influence the success of innovative projects in agriculture and sustainability
