Local Industry Liaison - Major Infrastructure Project

Mining, Resources & Energy

About the Company

Davidson is proud to be partnering with Iberdrola Australia on the VNI West Project – a nationally significant transmission project supporting Australia’s clean energy transition.

Backed by one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, VNI West will play a critical role in strengthening the national electricity grid while delivering meaningful economic and employment outcomes for regional communities across western Victoria.

As the project progresses, we are now seeking an experienced Local Industry Liaison to join the VNI West team. This role is integral to ensuring local businesses, suppliers and workers are positioned to participate in and benefit from the project.

Based in Western Victoria, with regular travel across regional centres including Hamilton, Bendigo, Ballarat and surrounding communities, this is a highly visible, relationship-driven role sitting at the intersection of industry engagement, procurement and community outcomes.

About the Role
Reporting to the Stakeholder Engagement Lead, the Local Industry Liaison will lead the development and delivery of local industry participation strategies across the VNI West project.

You will work closely with regional businesses, industry groups, training providers, procurement teams and government stakeholders to support local supplier readiness, workforce participation and compliance with local content requirements.

This is a hands-on role, well suited to someone with experience working in regional environments who understands how major infrastructure projects can drive long-term economic benefit when local engagement is done well.

What you’ll be doing

  • Identifying, engaging and supporting local businesses and suppliers to participate in the VNI West project
  • Facilitating capability and capacity-building initiatives to help local suppliers meet procurement requirements
  • Supporting local workforce participation, including employment pathways, apprenticeships and training initiatives
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with local businesses, industry groups, government agencies and community organisations
  • Representing the project at industry forums, supplier briefings, networking events and community engagement activities
  • Working closely with procurement and contracting teams to embed local content targets into supply chain decisions
  • Collaborating with training providers, industry associations and vocational education organisations to support upskilling initiatives
  • Partnering with Traditional Owner engagement teams to maximise First Nations business, industry and workforce participation
  • Developing and implementing local content strategies aligned with government policy and project objectives
  • Monitoring, reporting and improving local content performance and compliance

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in local industry engagement, economic development, procurement or supply chain management
  • Demonstrated experience working with and within regional communities
  • A strong understanding of local content policies, social procurement frameworks and government requirements
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • The ability to work across multidisciplinary project teams and influence outcomes without direct authority
  • Strong analytical, reporting and organisational skills
  • Confidence representing a major infrastructure project in public, industry and community settings

Highly regarded experience includes:

  • Experience in energy, infrastructure or resources projects
  • Knowledge of Indigenous business participation frameworks and social procurement initiatives
  • Familiarity with the Victorian Government Social Procurement Framework
  • IAP2 qualifications or similar engagement credentials

Benefits
This is a genuine opportunity to play a visible role in a landmark infrastructure project, delivering tangible benefits to regional communities while contributing to Australia’s clean energy future.

You’ll be joining a globally respected organisation, working on a project with long-term impact, strong governance and a clear commitment to local participation.
