The Opportunity
Our client is seeking a talented
Linux Infrastructure Engineer
for a 12-month fixed-term contract, with the potential to transition to a permanent role. You will join a collaborative and forward-thinking IT team, delivering and supporting critical infrastructure across both cloud and on-premises environments.
Open to people based in Melbourne or Sydney. Offices in North Sydney and Melbourne Airport. Unfortunately no sponsorship is available for this opportunity. 3 days per week in the office.
The Role
As a
Linux Infrastructure Engineer, you will be responsible for the support and maintenance of Linux-based systems and infrastructure technologies.
Your other responsibilities will include:
- Leading and participating in infrastructure projects, upgrades, and patching activities
- Providing Level 2/3 technical support and participating in the on-call roster
- Automating infrastructure tasks using Shell scripting, Ansible, or Terraform
- Maintaining and optimizing services across AWS, Azure, VMware, Veeam, and PostgreSQL
- Supporting internal audits, documenting systems, and collaborating with vendors and stakeholders
About you
In order to be a successful applicant you will have strong experience in Linux system administration, particularly in Ubuntu and Red Hat environments.
You will also have:
- Proficiency in scripting and infrastructure automation tools
- Experience managing enterprise IT environments and virtual/cloud platforms
- A proactive and analytical approach to technical problem solving
- Strong communication skills to liaise with technical and non-technical stakeholders
- A commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
