Reporting to the Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer, you will play a pivotal role in advancing GeelongPort’s strategic objectives by delivering expert legal guidance while ensuring robust governance practices and compliance with board requirements. You will provide comprehensive legal services across GeelongPort, including legislative interpretation, tendering, legal construction advice, leases and licences, contracts, dispute resolution, commercial transactions, brand and intellectual property rights, occupational health and safety, insurance, and liability matters.
We are seeking an experienced In-House Legal with experience in highly complex commercial operating environments. You will bring demonstrated expertise in legislative interpretation, commercial contract negotiation and track record of partnering with all areas of a business from operations to commercial, including capital works projects. You will be confident in representing organisations at mediation and external forums, providing assistance to the Company Secretary and preparing high-quality board papers. You are highly regarded for your diligence and ability to engage as an effective business partner who works autonomously, delivers accurate and timely legal advice and collaborates effectively with external contractors when required.
Importantly, you are recognised for your ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and bring high attention to detail, ability to multitask and bring a strategic mindset to inform decision making. Formal qualifications in Tertiary legal qualification and current Practising Certificate as an Australian lawyer are required.
