Leadership & Capability Manager – Operations

Human Resources & Recruitment

About the Company

This organisation is a large, complex operational business with a significant frontline workforce and multiple sites across North Queensland.

With a strong focus on performance, safety and continuous improvement, they are now investing in strengthening leadership capability to drive more consistent outcomes across their operations.

About the Role

You will play a key role in lifting leadership capability across the business — partnering directly with operational leaders to improve performance, consistency and accountability on the ground

This is not a traditional L&D role. It’s about diagnosing capability gaps, influencing leaders, and embedding practical solutions that drive measurable performance improvement.

You will spend time on site, building relationships, coaching leaders and ensuring capability initiatives translate into meaningful change on the ground.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Partner with leaders to identify capability gaps and uplift leadership effectiveness
  • Monitor and evaluate capability initiatives to ensure behavioural change and business impact
  • Design and embed practical capability frameworks (not just training programs)
  • Coach and influence leaders to improve team performance and behaviours
  • Lead training and capability audits to ensure compliance and consistency
  • Align learning initiatives to business outcomes, operational risk and performance
  • Support the development of scalable frameworks, tools and governance processes

About You

You bring experience in leadership capability, organisational development or people performance uplift within operational or complex environments.

You are comfortable working directly with leaders, challenging where needed, and influencing change in a practical, grounded way.

You are not a traditional trainer — you understand how to influence behaviour, build capability and drive performance outcomes beyond learning delivery.

Key skills and experience:

  • Experience lifting leadership capability within operational environments
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
  • Ability to diagnose capability gaps and implement practical solutions
  • Experience working with frontline or blue-collar workforces
  • Background in OD, capability, HR or leadership development

To be successful in this role, you will also have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources, Learning & Development, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to operational sites

This role will suit an L&D or Capability professional looking to step into a more strategic, business-facing role with real impact.

The Benefits

  • Opportunity to partner directly with senior operational leaders and influence decision-making
  • Opportunity to shape and influence leadership capability at scale
  • High visibility role working closely with senior operational leaders
  • Hands-on, impactful work with real business outcomes
  • Supportive and values-driven organisation
