🔍 The Role
Davidson Technology Consulting (DTC) is seeking a Principal Platform Engineer to deliver high-impact infrastructure and governance solutions into a tier-one financial services environment. This engagement involves leading platform strategy, cloud-native infrastructure design, and control automation initiatives critical to the client's modernisation and AI-readiness agenda.
Operating as a technical authority within the consulting delivery team, the Principal Engineer will guide squads and stakeholders through the development of resilient AWS-native infrastructure patterns, enabling secure, compliant, and scalable platforms for regulated workloads, including those that support AI/ML pipelines.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Strategy & Design
- Architect and evolve highly available, AWS-native platforms using services such as ECS/EKS, Lambda, Control Tower, IAM, CloudFormation, and CDK.
- Lead the design and delivery of infrastructure platforms aligned to client reference architectures and long-term cloud strategy.
- Direct the migration of legacy workloads into modernised, cloud-native equivalents, ensuring performance and compliance gains.
- Provide input into tooling, tenancy models, and operational resilience strategies across client-aligned squads.
DevSecOps Enablement
- Design and uplift CI/CD pipelines that embed security, quality assurance, and rollback mechanisms at every stage of the deployment lifecycle.
- Champion SRE-aligned practices, including observability, telemetry, and auto-remediation to support high system availability.
- Integrate platform-level testing and deployment standards across infrastructure-as-code and container ecosystems.
AI Platform Readiness
- Work closely with client innovation and AI teams to establish AI-compatible infrastructure patterns, including agent execution environments, data pipeline staging, and AI-specific control layers.
- Develop rollout gating, auditability, and telemetry instrumentation to enable safe AI-agent deployment within production ecosystems.
Leadership & Influence
- Architectural Authority: Represent DTC as a senior design lead within client governance forums—reviewing HLDs, reusable component libraries, and platform delivery roadmaps.
- Design Patterns & Governance: Define and promote multi-tenant platform patterns, secure landing zones, and reusable modules aligned to enterprise architecture standards.
- Lifecycle Ownership: Guide delivery teams across platform design, provisioning, testing, monitoring, and post-deployment hardening.
- Cross-Functional Engagement: Act as a bridge between platform engineering, security, enterprise architecture, and delivery teams—ensuring platform thinking is embedded in all solution planning.
- Practice Uplift: Mentor client-side engineers in infrastructure design, platform testing approaches, and DevSecOps best practices.
- Technical Governance & Thought Leadership: Contribute to design councils, lead peer reviews, and support the scaling of platform capability through reusable templates and internal knowledge-sharing sessions.
💡 About You
Technical Expertise
- 10+ years in platform engineering, cloud architecture, or infrastructure automation, with direct consulting or client-facing experience.
- Deep proficiency in AWS-native services including ECS, EKS, Lambda, Control Tower, IAM, CloudFormation, CDK, S3, and networking components.
- Strong hands-on capability in infrastructure automation: Terraform, Python, Go, Bash.
- Proven delivery across containerised environments (Docker, Kubernetes) and pipeline automation (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, CodePipeline).
- Knowledge of multi-account cloud environments, identity segmentation, and shared services control models.
AI/ML Workload Integration (Desirable)
- Familiarity with MLOps patterns and infrastructure designs that support agentic AI deployment.
- Understanding of explainability, sandbox isolation, and AI-specific rollout risk controls within a regulated context.
