IT/OT Solution Architect

Technology

Company Overview

A leading consultancy is partnering with a well-known manufacturing end user to deliver a major, multi-site Asset Performance Management (APM) transformation. This program is focused on enabling predictive maintenance, improved asset health visibility, and scalable reliability capability across a complex operational footprint. Working across IT/OT and enterprise platforms, the team will design and implement a configurable, off-the-shelf solution that supports long-term business adoption. This is a high-impact engagement with strong stakeholder visibility and clear outcomes across multiple sites and asset classes.

Overview of Role

As Solution Architect, you will lead the architecture, integration, and deployment of off-the-shelf and configurable enterprise software solutions within complex manufacturing environments, ensuring seamless interoperability across IT/OT systems and alignment with Industry 4.0 strategies.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Define, own, and document the end-to-end solution architecture for an enterprise APM platform and associated integrations
  • Lead integration architecture across ERP, EAM/APM/MES, data services, and OT-facing components (SaaS, on-prem, hybrid)
  • Translate shop-floor and executive requirements into clear technical designs, deployment models, and phased roadmaps
  • Partner with infrastructure, network, security, and data teams to ensure platform, cloud, and compliance requirements are met
  • Provide technical leadership, escalation support, and risk-based governance throughout the project lifecycle
  • Drive architectural standards, knowledge transfer, and high-quality technical documentation across delivery streams

Required Skill Set

We’re looking for an architect who is comfortable bridging product architecture, enterprise architecture, and operational realities in a manufacturing environment. You’ll bring strong package-implementation experience and the ability to tailor configurable solutions to meet business capability needs across multiple sites.

You’ll bring:

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect / Technical Lead delivering enterprise package software in manufacturing, industrial, or asset-intensive environments
  • Strong integration background across ERP/EAM/APM/MES and OT-adjacent systems (e.g., SAP, Microsoft stack, SCADA/PLC awareness)
  • Experience designing architectures for SaaS, on-prem, and hybrid deployments, including cloud, infrastructure, networking, and security considerations
  • Demonstrated architecture governance capability (solution designs, architecture artifacts, reference architectures, deployment roadmaps)
  • Excellent stakeholder management—able to communicate clearly from shop-floor teams through to senior executives
  • Nice to have: Azure/Microsoft cloud exposure and familiarity with maintenance/reliability concepts (asset hierarchy, work orders, reliability processes)

Benefits and exciting things about the project

You’ll be part of a major APM program with genuine end-to-end ownership, shaping architecture from mobilisation and foundation capability through rollout and adoption across sites. It’s a rare chance to influence both the technical solution and the long-term operational capability uplift in a complex manufacturing setting. Opportunity for extension or conversion to permanent

Key Engagement Details

  • Contract: Initial 5 months with strong extension likelihood (program runs longer-term)
  • Location/Travel: Based out of Melbourne OR Sydney - 2 weeks onsite in Auckland for workshops
  • Ideal Start Date: 2nd February
