We’re looking for a hands-on IT Manager
to take ownership of IT across a growing, multi-entity organisation and help shape how technology supports the business moving forward.
This is an opportunity to step into an environment that is established but evolving,
where you’ll define direction, simplify systems, and build capability over time.
About the Environment
You’ll be supporting a group with:
- 4 operating verticals(including education, labour hire, recruitment, and not-for-profit)
- A shared services entity supporting all business units
- A Microsoft-centric environment(M365, Azure, transitioning into Dataverse)
- A current managed service provider supporting parts of the environment
- A small internal team ( 2 IT staff + offshore support)
The goal is to:
- Bring greater ownership and capability in-house
- Reduce reliance on external providers
- Improve structure, efficiency, and scalability
- Introduce more automation and AI-driven ways of working
The Role
This is a lead-from-the-front role.
You’ll sit above the current IT function and be responsible for:
- Defining IT strategy and direction across all business units
- Assessing the current environment and optimising or reshaping the MSP relationship
- Supporting and uplifting the existing team
- Identifying where capability gaps exist and hiring as needed
- Owning the Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Azure, Dataverse, security)
- Driving automation and AI adoption (Copilot, workflows, low-code solutions)
- Staying hands-on where required — troubleshooting, implementing, and improving systems
What You’ll Be Working On
- Reviewing the current IT landscape and setting a clear roadmap
- Transitioning from outsourced support to a more internally owned model
- Standardising systems and processes across multiple business units
- Expanding use of Microsoft technologies (Dataverse, Power Platform)
- Introducing AI and Copilot-driven productivity improvements
- Improving governance, security, and cost control
What We’re Looking For
Core Experience
- Experience in a senior IT role(IT Manager, Senior Systems Engineer, Technical Lead)
- Strong hands-on capability across:
- Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Exchange)
- Azure (identity, infrastructure, security)
- Experience working with or managing managed service providers
- Ability to operate across both strategy and delivery
Highly Valued
- Exposure to Microsoft Copilot / AI tools / automation
- Experience with Dataverse / Power Platform
- Background in multi-entity or multi-business environments
- Experience building or reshaping IT teams or capability
