Insurance Claims Specialist – Superannuation

About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Insurance Claims Specialist to join a high-performing consulting team supporting a major Australian superannuation client.
In this role, you will assess insurance claims held within superannuation, ensuring every determination is fair, accurate and compliant with legislative requirements, policy terms and trustee obligations. You'll manage a varied portfolio of claims while working closely with members, beneficiaries, insurers and internal stakeholders to deliver positive outcomes throughout the claims process.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assess insurance claims in accordance with superannuation legislation, policy terms and trustee requirements.
  • Review supporting documentation and determine appropriate claim outcomes.
  • Manage claims relating to:
    • Death Benefits
    • Total and Permanent Disablement (TPD)
    • Permanent Incapacity
    • Income Protection
  • Liaise with members, beneficiaries, insurers and internal stakeholders throughout the claims lifecycle.
  • Manage sensitive member and beneficiary enquiries with empathy, professionalism and care.
  • Prepare clear, accurate written communications regarding claim decisions.
  • Maintain accurate records while ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations and internal policies.

About You

To be successful, you will bring:

  • Proven experience assessing insurance claims within the Australian superannuation industry.
  • Strong understanding of Insurance in Super arrangements.
  • Sound knowledge of superannuation legislation relating to insurance benefits.
  • Experience working within trustee and insurer frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage sensitive conversations with empathy, professionalism and discretion.
  • Full Australian working rights are required.
