Expressions of interest open for senior Infrastructure Project Managers to join the Davidson Technology Consulting team to deliver complex initiatives across Azure, network, security, disaster recovery, backup, SQL and hardware renewal.

· 12-month contract
· Melbourne Inner CBD, hybrid 3 days onsite required

About the role

Seasoned Infrastructure Project Managers are required to lead the delivery of a major infrastructure transformation program within a local government environment.

This is a senior contract opportunity responsible for managing complex, multi-stream initiatives across cloud, network, security, backup/disaster recovery, data platforms, and end-user infrastructure. You will lead projects end-to-end, from initiation and procurement through to implementation and transition into business-as-usual operations.

Key projects

You will lead delivery across a portfolio of infrastructure initiatives, including:

  • Azure cloud migration across public, private and hybrid environments
  • WAN / SD-WAN consolidation and network rebuild
  • Backup platform rebuild and modernisation
  • Disaster recovery design, testing and implementation
  • Public firewall redesign and optimisation
  • Client VPN upgrade and secure remote access uplift
  • SQL Server consolidation and upgrade
  • Asset hardware renewal including routers, switches and UPS


Key responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the delivery of complex infrastructure programs across cloud, network, security and data domains
  • Develop and manage integrated project plans, schedules, budgets and resource allocations
  • Manage scope, timelines, costs, risks, issues and dependencies across multiple concurrent workstreams
  • Lead procurement-led initiatives, including RFT processes for infrastructure and managed services
  • Coordinate vendor evaluation, onboarding, contract execution and performance management
  • Ensure compliance with governance, reporting, approval and risk management frameworks
  • Maintain RAID logs and provide timely escalation of key risks and issues
  • Prepare executive reporting, dashboards and steering committee updates
  • Work closely with technical teams, business stakeholders, procurement and external delivery partners
  • Ensure smooth transition of solutions into BAU with minimal operational disruption
  • Align infrastructure outcomes to Council’s strategic priorities, including resilience, security, performance and service reliability


About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

  • Proven experience delivering large-scale ICT infrastructure and transformation programs
  • Strong project management capability across cloud, networks, cyber security, disaster recovery, data platforms and infrastructure modernisation
  • Demonstrated experience managing procurement and tender-led delivery, ideally including RFT processes
  • Strong vendor and stakeholder management capability across technical and non-technical groups
  • Experience working within formal governance, reporting and risk frameworks
  • Ability to manage complex delivery environments with multiple dependencies and competing priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level reporting
  • A hands-on, pragmatic approach with strong delivery discipline


Essential requirements

  • Local government / council experience is essential
  • Proven ability to deliver projects within local government / council environments
  • Understanding of municipal governance structures, community service priorities and regulatory/compliance expectations relevant to council settings
