About the Company
Our client is seeking an experienced Human Resources Advisor to join their People, Performance and Safety team on a six-month temporary contract.

Reporting to the Executive Manager People, Performance and Safety, this is an excellent opportunity to step into a broad, hands-on HR role where you'll support day-to-day HR operations while delivering a range of key people initiatives across the organisation.

The organisation is based in Cooktown, however this role is open to candidates based anywhere across Queensland, with fully remote working available for the right candidate. Ideally, the successful candidate will spend their first week onsite in Cooktown to complete onboarding and meet the team, with accommodation provided. Flexibility around these arrangements is available for the right candidate.

About the Role
This is a true generalist HR opportunity where you'll work across the full employee lifecycle while supporting several priority organisational projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing employment contracts and HR correspondence.
  • Supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle activities.
  • Reviewing and enhancing the employee induction program.
  • Assisting with implementation of the SCOUT Onboarding Module.
  • Reviewing and updating Position Descriptions and Contracts of Employment.
  • Supporting the rollout of a new performance review program.
  • Providing practical HR advice and support to managers and employees.
  • Reviewing HR policies, procedures and processes while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Contributing to a range of HR improvement projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You
You'll bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in a broad Human Resources Advisor or HR Generalist role.
  • Previous experience within Queensland Local Government or Queensland Government will be highly regarded.
  • Experience preparing employment contracts, HR correspondence and employee documentation.
  • Strong knowledge across recruitment, onboarding, performance management and the employee lifecycle.
  • Experience reviewing HR policies, procedures and processes while identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • The ability to work independently, manage competing priorities and quickly integrate into a busy team.
