Our client, Astec Australia, is part of a global, publicly listed infrastructure and industrial manufacturing group operating across the full journey from road to rail. With refreshed leadership in Australia, the business is focused on resetting culture, strengthening leadership capability and modernising people practices.
Astec is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to take ownership of HR in Australia and play a key role in the next phase of the organisation’s evolution. Servicing clients across Australia, Astec currently have a national headcount of 40 staff across Queensland, Sydney & Melbourne with their corporate operations and major service teams located at their Acacia Ridge site.
In this role you will:
- Support a newly appointed RMD as he establishes trust, alignment and momentum
- Be mentored and supported by the Global HR Director
- Lead practical change management that actually sticks
- Be involved in HR systems and technology uplift, including Oracle HRIS adoption
- Build a credible, visible HR presence across office, sales and trades
- Position yourself for broader regional/international exposure over time
Your 'day to day' focus:
This is a true standalone HR role with breadth, depth and influence, including:
- Leading culture and workforce transformation during leadership transition
- End-to-end HR generalist delivery across an operational workforce
- Coaching leaders through performance, accountability and change
- Embedding HR frameworks aligned to global standards
- ER/IR, compliance and risk management
- HR systems ownership and data integrity (Oracle HRIS)
- Payroll oversight and governance (not processing)
- Contributing to longer-term support across additional regions/countries
About you:
This role will excite someone who:
- Has 4+ years’ experience in a generalist HR or HRBP role
- Wants to leave a legacy, not just “manage HR”
- Enjoys being close to the business and visible on site
- Is motivated by learning from strong leaders
- Proven experience supporting or leading organisational change
- Strong ER/IR, compliance and systems capability
- Able to influence leaders and reinforce standards with credibility
- Sees long-term value in global exposure and complexity, even without a bigger title
