HR Business Partner - Employee Relations & Advisory

Human Resources & Recruitment

About the Organisation

Our client is a major national organisation working in a complex, highly regulated environment that keeps people and communities safe and connected. It is a large-scale operation with a workforce that spans frontline operations, corporate teams, and specialist technical fields. The work here matters. It is meaningful, challenging, and never boring.

About the Role

This is a senior partnering role for someone who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and getting close to the work. You will be part of a small, capable team that provides high-level advice and case management support to leaders across the business.

The environment is fast-paced and sometimes unpredictable. You will often be juggling multiple cases, interpreting different agreements, and helping leaders navigate complex people matters. If you enjoy variety and thrive when things are busy, this role will suit you.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide practical advice on all aspects of employee and industrial relations, including grievances, misconduct, investigations, and performance management.
  • Partner with leaders to manage sensitive issues with sound judgment.
  • Interpret and apply legislation, awards, and enterprise agreements confidently.
  • Support organisational change and restructuring activities.
  • Build capability in leaders through coaching, feedback, and trusted partnership.
  • Contribute to projects that improve HR processes and employee experience.

About You

You bring solid HR generalist experience with strong ER capability. You are confident working through complex issues and can handle competing priorities calmly. You are known for being approachable, pragmatic, and fair, with the ability to bring clarity when things feel messy.

You will also need:

  • Experience managing ER cases in a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong understanding of employment legislation, awards, and EBAs.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • The confidence to influence and the humility to listen.
  • Tertiary qualifications in HR, business, or a related field.

Why This Role

You will be joining a respected organisation where you can see the impact of your work every day. It is a challenging environment, but one where good HR professionals thrive because your advice is trusted, and your expertise makes a real difference.

You will have the flexibility to work in a hybrid model, the stability of a permanent role, and the satisfaction of working on complex, interesting matters that genuinely stretch your capability.
