About the Role
An opportunity is available for an experienced Health and Safety Manager
to join the organisation on a part-time contract from 21 September to 20 November 2026, working 3 days per week remotely.
This senior role will be responsible for the delivery and continual improvement of the organisation's national health and safety program. You will provide strategic and technical advice, review and strengthen health and safety systems, policies and procedures, and drive a positive and proactive safety culture across the organisation.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing strategic and technical advice on health and safety legislation, risks and compliance
- Reviewing and developing health and safety policies, procedures and guidance
- Driving continuous improvement of health and safety systems and organisational safety culture
- Preparing health and safety reporting for senior leadership, committees and the Board
- Supporting incident and near-miss investigations, reporting and recommendations
- Supporting the organisation's Health and Safety Committee
- Managing health and safety registers, systems and external service providers
- Providing advice and support to a geographically dispersed workforce
About You
You will be an experienced health and safety professional who is comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level. You will have the confidence to influence senior stakeholders while providing practical advice and solutions across a diverse organisation.
You will bring:
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in a senior health and safety position
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, risk assessment and compliance requirements
- Practical experience implementing health and safety legislation across multiple Australian jurisdictions
- Demonstrated experience reviewing and improving safety systems, policies and organisational safety culture
- Strong leadership, stakeholder management and influencing skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience supporting health and safety requirements across regional or remote environments
- A current driver's licence
Experience within the not-for-profit sector would be advantageous.
