- Lead the delivery of a high-performing People & Culture function
- Senior leadership opportunity with responsibility for strategy and operations
- Play a pivotal role in shaping the cultural future of Port of Hastings
The Port of Hastings in Victoria is a strategically important, state-significant asset with distinctive competitive advantages that position it strongly for future economic growth and development. These advantages include extensive zoned land in close proximity to existing port infrastructure, naturally deep-water access, and proximity to offshore wind developments along the Gippsland coast. A proposal for Australia’s largest offshore wind project is currently under consideration, further reinforcing the Port’s long-term strategic value. The Port of Hastings is currently focused on delivering through a significant period of build and transformation. This includes strengthening internal people capability, implementing robust workforce strategies, and establishing fit-for-purpose foundations to support future growth. This focus is strategically critical and underpins the organisation’s ability to enable delivery outcomes across the business.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this role partners closely with leaders across the organisation to build and embed a high-performing People & Culture function that supports organisational growth, delivery outcomes, and cultural change. The organisation is in a significant build and transformation phase, with a clear focus on establishing fit-for-purpose people frameworks, systems, and capability rather than maintaining mature or legacy structures. The role will shape the People & Culture function and play an active part in the organisation’s broader transformation agenda, partnering on ERP implementation and broader technology uplift initiatives. The role works closely with key stakeholders across the business, providing timely, pragmatic advice and hands-on support where it is needed most. Additionally, the role will support strategic projects, contributing to workforce uplift, site-based workforce management, and the navigation of medium to long term people and industrial issues.
To succeed in this role, you will be a values-led, people-centred HR professional with experience partnering with senior leaders in complex environments, ideally within the public or an aligned sector. You bring capability across workforce strategy, organisational design and development, performance management, and employee and industrial relations, including exposure to enterprise agreements and unionised environments. Comfortable operating with ambiguity, you can build frameworks from first principles, influence with credibility, and balance strategic thinking with a practical, hands-on approach. Strong communication and stakeholder-management skills, sound judgement, and a genuine passion for culture, capability, and meaningful organisational change are essential to success in the role.
