Energy Safe Victoria (ESV) is the state’s independent safety regulator for electricity, gas and pipelines, with a clear and important purpose - to keep Victorians safe and confident in their energy use. Reporting to the General Manager, Finance, Strategy & Risk, the Head of Information Technology is a pivotal senior leadership role. You will lead the development and execution of digital and cybersecurity roadmaps, ensuring technology platforms, infrastructure and systems are secure, scalable and aligned to both current operational needs and future regulatory demands. The role oversees IT operations, vendor and contract management, and service delivery performance, while also acting as the organisation’s Information Security Lead. As a trusted advisor to the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, you will partner with the Head of Business Improvement and provide strategic insight on technology, risk and innovation. Working closely with leaders across the business, you will drive cross-functional initiatives, uplift capability, and embed technology as a core enabler of regulatory effectiveness and organisational performance.

We are seeking a pragmatic and collaborative IT leader with strong experience in service delivery, vendor management and platform-based environments. You may currently be a Head of IT or a senior leader in IT operations, platforms or service delivery looking to step into a broader role. Experience in government or not-for-profit environments will be highly regarded, along with an ability to work effectively within structured, stakeholder-rich settings. You bring sound judgement, strong coordination capability and a focus on outcomes, with the ability to bring teams together and deliver steady, well-managed improvement. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics or similar enterprise platforms will be advantageous, as will a mindset geared toward simplifying systems, reducing technical debt and enabling sustainable, long-term solutions. A collaborative and values-driven leader, you are able to build, lead and inspire high-performing teams, foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement, and deliver results through strong governance and execution.
