The opportunity
Davidson is partnering with a large, privately owned multinational business to appoint a Head of Financial Control – APAC.
Based on the Gold Coast and reporting to the APAC CFO, this is a broad finance leadership role with responsibility for financial control, reporting, governance and performance across the region.
You will lead an established finance team and work closely with senior leaders across Finance, Operations, Sales and the wider business.
The brief is clear. They need someone who can keep the fundamentals tight, improve how the function operates and give the CFO confidence in the numbers, controls and team.
What you’ll be responsible for
You will lead a finance function of 15 people and take ownership of:
- Financial and management reporting across APAC
- Month-end, quarter-end and year-end processes
- Balance sheet, general ledger and financial control
- Budgeting, forecasting, cashflow and working capital
- Statutory reporting, audit, tax, treasury and compliance
- Governance, risk and internal controls
- Inventory, product costing, provisions and accruals
- Capital expenditure analysis and business cases
- Finance systems, automation and process improvement
- Development and performance of the finance team
There is also a strong operational element to the role. You will work closely with leaders across the business to improve financial visibility, challenge performance and support better decisions.
What they are looking for
You are likely to be an experienced Financial Controller, Group Financial Controller or Head of Finance who has worked in a complex business and is comfortable leading both the technical and people sides of finance.
You will ideally bring:
- CA or CPA qualification
- Senior financial control experience
- Experience in manufacturing, FMCG, distribution or another inventory-based environment
- Strong statutory and management reporting capability
- Sound knowledge of Australian tax, treasury, governance and compliance
- Experience with inventory, costing and working capital
- Strong budgeting, forecasting and FP&A capability
- Experience with large ERP systems and finance transformation
- Proven experience leading and developing a finance team
Just as importantly, they are looking for someone who can guide, coach and challenge.
You will need to be comfortable getting into the detail when required, but also able to step back, understand what is happening across the business and give clear advice to senior leaders.
