The Opportunity
We’re looking for a senior engineering authority to set strategic direction, own solution architecture, and lift engineering standards while playing a pivotal role in an AI-enabled delivery transformation and pre-sales technical leadership role. You’ll be accountable for engineering quality, reliability and security, and will build the engineering team, practices and platform strategy that differentiate us in market.
What You’ll Do
🚀 Portfolio Growth
- Partner with Account Directors to win engineering/platform opportunities through credible technical discovery and solutioning.
- Lead technical discovery, assess feasibility, define approaches, and articulate value grounded in delivery reality.
- Own technical proposals: architecture diagrams, estimates, risks, and delivery plans.
- Build executive relationships through architecture reviews, demos, and technical briefings.
🚀 Delivery Leadership
- Define and govern architecture standards, patterns, and engineering guidelines.
- Lead technical delivery to ensure production readiness: code standards, testing, CI/CD, and technical debt management.
- Embed security and reliability practices across delivery.
- Drive engineering productivity, including AI-enabled development and automation.
🚀 Practice Growth & Community
- Build and lead the engineering team: hiring, mentoring, performance, and capability uplift.
- Own platform strategy: cloud infrastructure, DevOps tooling, and shared capabilities.
- Develop internal IP: reusable reference architectures, accelerators, and platform components.
- Grow DTC’s market credibility through thought leadership, events, and community building.
What You Bring (Must-Have)
- 15+ years software engineering experience, including 8+ years in architecture/leadership roles.
- Entrepreneurial mindset and proven track record building and operating production systems at scale.
- Strong cloud platform expertise (AWS/Azure/GCP) and infrastructure-as-code.
- Solid DevOps/SRE capability (CI/CD, observability, incident response, SLOs/error budgets).
- Experience leading teams of 6+ engineers with a focus on engineering excellence.
- Strong grounding in security and reliability engineering (threat modelling, secure coding, compliance).
- Demonstrated AI / agentic systems experience (LLM integration, agentic architectures, RAG patterns, evaluation frameworks; MLOps fundamentals) - critical requirement.
- Hold valid work rights for Australia
Technical Breadth You’ll Be Comfortable With
- Distributed systems, microservices, API design, integration patterns, cloud-native architectures
- Containers, orchestration, and platform engineering
- Engineering governance: code quality, testing strategies, and technical debt management
Nice-to-Have
- Consulting / professional services delivery experience
- Open-source contributions, published thought leadership
- Experience in regulated industries (financial services, healthcare, government)
