GeelongPort is Victoria’s second largest port located within Victoria’s largest regional city, Geelong. Managing close to 14 million tonnes of cargo and 1000 vessel visits per year, GeelongPort supports the agriculture, construction, energy and tourism sectors. Reporting to the Chief Legal and Sustainability Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing GeelongPort’s corporate affairs portfolio, which includes strategic communications, government engagement, stakeholder engagement, public relations, marketing, digital and social media channels, and internal communications. You will design and deliver programs to leverage the organisations strengths, project a positive organisational brand and continue to support the execution of GeelongPort’s strategic objectives. Key to your success will be your ability to plan, manage and execute public relations and marketing plans to promote GeelongPort’s brand, services, and support customer and key stakeholder relationships. This will include managing reputation and issue mitigation and effectively engaging with key stakeholders including media outlets and government. You will prepare media releases, holding statements and external engagement materials on behalf of the Senior Leadership team and the CEO. Internally you will lead the Corporate Affairs team and drive a highly engaged and motivated workplace culture, driving clear accounting and providing opportunities for growth and development.

To be successful in this role you will bring proven experience in a complex multi-stakeholder environment including extensive experience in government relations. This will include experience leading communication programs for project deliver or major change environments. Demonstrated experience in government relations will be critical in your ability to build excellent stakeholder relationships and design and build effective narratives to support external engagement. Importantly, you are recognised for your ability to build effective relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and bring high attention to detail, ability to multitask, comfort with ambiguity and strategic mindset inform and support decision making. Formal qualifications in Public Relations, Communications or related discipline will be highly regarded.
