- Strategic engineering leadership in growth and planning
- Act as a key transformation agent, helping shape new systems and processes
- Flexible base location – Sunshine Coast or Moreton Bay
The Organisation
Unitywater provides essential water supply and sewerage services to communities across the Sunshine Coast, Noosa and Moreton Bay regions. Operating on the lands of the Kabi Kabi, Jinibara and Turrbal peoples, Unitywater is dedicated to sustainability, innovation and service excellence. With a strong customer and community focus, Unitywater is driven by its purpose to keep communities healthy and sustainable.
The Sustainable Infrastructure Solutions business unit plays a central role in long-term growth planning, infrastructure delivery and engineering excellence. As Unitywater continues to support rapid regional growth and infrastructure demand, a pivotal opportunity has arisen for a Growth Engineering Manager to drive capability and performance across planning and delivery teams.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager Growth and Planning, the Growth Engineering Manager is responsible for leading a team of approximately 10 engineers who deliver core capability across Unitywater’s water and wastewater planning and infrastructure programs. This is a senior leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on complexity, brings strong technical capability, and can navigate evolving capital priorities. You'll provide both strategic oversight and day-to-day support across infrastructure planning, development services, and interfacing with external stakeholders—including developers, delivery partners and regulatory bodies.
You will play a key role in embedding Unitywater’s new transformation operating model, contributing to the shift in how infrastructure planning aligns with organisational ambitions and community growth. As the team undergoes transformation, your role will be crucial in shaping processes, uplifting technical capability, and aligning the team to new ways of working by helping to shape new systems and interfaces that better connect engineering services with Unitywater’s internal teams and with external stakeholders, particularly developers and project partners.
This is a leadership role that operates at the intersection of growth strategy, engineering capability and stakeholder collaboration. It demands cross-functional engagement to ensure Unitywater’s engineering resources are effectively aligned to meet evolving infrastructure priorities, while also advancing the broader organisational culture through uplift in team maturity, service delivery and continuous improvement.
With responsibility for strategic project scoping, risk management, cost estimation, and early-phase project development, the Growth Engineering Manager contributes directly to Unitywater’s forward capital planning and long-term service sustainability.
Our Ideal Candidate
You are a strategic and people-focused engineering leader with significant experience in the planning, design or delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure. With deep technical knowledge and experience in capital works planning, you are skilled in developing engineering teams, managing complex projects and engaging across multidisciplinary environments.
You bring a collaborative leadership style and strong communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders across government, industry and internal teams. A strategic thinker with a passion for sustainable infrastructure, you are outcomes-focused and committed to service excellence.
You thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments and are comfortable navigating both Greenfield and Brownfield challenges. Your leadership style reflects emotional intelligence, clear communication and a deep commitment to stakeholder engagement. You are adept at working across complex third-party interfaces—especially in regulatory, planning and developer-focused contexts—and bring a proactive approach to aligning technical capability with broader business goals.
Why This Role?
This is an exciting opportunity to lead and influence Unitywater’s infrastructure future. With a focus on regional growth, innovation and sustainability, this role offers career impact and technical challenge within a supportive and progressive organisation. Enjoy flexibility in location and the opportunity to shape one of SEQ’s most critical service areas.
