Brisbane is entering a defining decade. New infrastructure, industries and precincts are reshaping our economy, while Brisbane 2032 is bringing global attention and opportunity to our city.
At Brisbane Economic Development Agency (BEDA), we’re looking for a General Manager, Investment to help turn that momentum into lasting economic outcomes, strengthen Brisbane's competitive position and make a compelling case for our city to investors, businesses and talent across the world.
This is more than managing an investment attraction team. It’s an opportunity to see potential before it becomes obvious, understand how cities compete for investment, talent and ideas, and bring people together to turn opportunity into action.
What you’ll lead
As a key member of BEDA’s Executive Leadership Team, reporting to the CEO, you’ll lead the Investment function across investment attraction, business expansion and reinvestment, infrastructure investment and economic intelligence.
You’ll be accountable for the opportunities BEDA pursues, the relationships it builds and the economic outcomes it creates. Working with government, industry and investors, you’ll help Brisbane attract investment and businesses that create jobs, build capability and strengthen the city’s priority industries.
Who we’re looking for
We’re less interested in where you’ve worked than what you’ve led, built and delivered. Your background may be in economics, finance, investment, banking, infrastructure, property, economic development, government, professional services or industry.
What matters is a strong track record of results, commercial and economic acumen, strategic judgement and the ability to turn complex opportunities into action. You’ll have proven experience leading high-performing teams, developing talented people and creating the clarity and accountability they to succeed.
You’ll be comfortable interrogating the numbers, challenging assumptions and making difficult decisions - whether in a boardroom, a Minister’s office, an international investor meeting or with Brisbane’s business leaders. Just as importantly, you’ll build trusted relationships, influence at senior levels and tell a compelling economic story.
Above all, you’ll bring curiosity, ambition and a genuine belief in Brisbane’s potential.
