General Manager

CEO & General Management

About the Company

Running for Premature Babies is a national charity giving sick and premature babies a better chance of survival. Founded by Sophie Smith OAM in 2006, the charity has since funded life-saving neonatal equipment for hospitals across Australia, helping thousands of vulnerable babies.

Fundraising is powered by running – through mass participation events nationwide and our annual Premmie Marathon Challenge. With strong momentum and growth ahead, we’re looking for a General Manager to help us achieve even greater impact.

About the Role

Reporting to the CEO, the General Manager will take ownership of day-to-day operations and lead the delivery of our fundraising campaigns. This hands-on role balances strategy and execution, ensuring the team and campaigns run smoothly and sustainably.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and scaling fundraising campaigns, including:
    • Fundraiser acquisition and promotion
    • Participant communications and automation
    • Event promotion at expos
    • Merchandise sourcing and distribution
  • Technical oversight of CRM and fundraising platform
  • Driving revenue growth, including:
    • Growing Premmie Marathon Challenge donations by 25% from 2025 to 2026
    • Increasing the number of supporters fundraising for the charity by 15% year-on-year
  • Developing a full understanding of our tech stack and optimising it for supporter experience and campaign performance
  • Representing the charity at key events, expos, and in the media

About You

You are an experienced nonprofit or social impact leader with a proven record in fundraising and campaign delivery. You’re both strategic and hands-on, equally comfortable leading people and rolling up your sleeves to get things done.

You’ll bring:

  • Senior leadership and team management experience
  • Strong fundraising and supporter engagement expertise
  • Proficiency in CRM systems, fundraising platforms, and digital marketing
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • A proactive, solutions-focused approach with strong financial and operational acumen

Above all, you’re purpose-driven and motivated by the chance to make a tangible difference for premature babies and their families.

The Benefits

  • Lead meaningful work that directly improves survival outcomes for premature babies
  • Shape and grow major national fundraising campaigns
  • Be part of a passionate, supportive team in a values-driven culture
  • Hybrid work model: mix of Sydney Eastern Suburbs office and work-from-home flexibility
  • Competitive salary and the rewards of purpose-driven work
