We’re looking for a confident and strategic leader to manage a high-performing Freedom of Information (FOI) team within a purpose-led government organisation. Based in Geelong, this full-time fixed-term role runs until 30 June 2026 and offers flexible hybrid work arrangements.
About the Role
As the FOI Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing all information release functions, including requests under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, subpoenas under the County Court Rules, and other access to information matters governed by applicable legislation.
You’ll lead a team of 7 experienced professionals, provide high-level advice to senior and executive stakeholders, manage responses to the Office of the Victorian Information Commissioner (OVIC), and represent the organisation at VCAT for appeals. You’ll also oversee sensitive and high-profile requests from media, political offices, and interest groups.
What You’ll Bring
- Strong expertise in managing complex and high-profile FOI requests
- Experience responding to OVIC reviews and representing matters at VCAT
- Tertiary qualifications in Law or equivalent relevant experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Excellent communication, planning, and stakeholder engagement skills
- A constructive leadership style and commitment to continuous improvement
