Backed by one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, VNI West will play a critical role in strengthening the national electricity grid while delivering meaningful and lasting outcomes for communities across western Victoria.

As the project progresses through development and into delivery, we are seeking an experienced First Nations Engagement Advisor to support Traditional Owner and First Nations engagement across the project corridor.

About the Role
Reporting to the Stakeholder Engagement Lead, the First Nations Engagement Advisor will support the implementation of the project’s Traditional Owner and First Nations engagement strategy.

This role will work closely with internal project teams, land access, approvals and heritage specialists to ensure engagement is respectful, compliant and aligned with regulatory and cultural heritage frameworks.

This is a key role within a complex, corridor-based infrastructure project and will suit someone who understands the realities of working on large-scale energy or transmission developments.

What you’ll be doing

  • Supporting delivery of the First Nations and Traditional Owner engagement strategy
  • Building and maintaining respectful, trusted relationships with Traditional Owners across the project footprint
  • Coordinating consultation activities in line with Native Title and cultural heritage requirements
  • Supporting agreement processes, including ILUAs and related documentation
  • Working closely with heritage, approvals and land access teams
  • Preparing briefing notes, engagement reports and compliance documentation
  • Ensuring internal project teams understand and adhere to cultural protocols
  • Supporting meetings, site visits and consultation sessions across regional Victoria


What you’ll bring

  • Demonstrated experience working on large-scale energy or infrastructure projects (ideally transmission line or linear infrastructure projects)
  • Proven experience engaging with Traditional Owners and First Nations communities
  • Strong understanding of Native Title, cultural heritage legislation and land access frameworks
  • Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication capability
  • The ability to operate effectively within a structured, governance-heavy project environment
  • Highly regarded experience includes:
  • Experience on transmission, renewable energy, utilities, pipeline or major linear infrastructure projects
  • Exposure to ILUA negotiations or Cultural Heritage Management Plans (CHMPs)
