Financial Model & Reporting Analyst
Iberdrola Australia – VNI West Project | Melbourne
Permanent | Full-time | High-impact infrastructure investment role | Global exposure

About the Company
Davidson is proud to be partnering with Iberdrola, a global renewable energy powerhouse operating in more than 40 countries and driving the transition to clean, reliable, affordable energy. In Australia, Iberdrola has invested over $5 billion across wind, solar, batteries, hydrogen and major transmission projects.

VNI West is a landmark transmission project that will connect Victoria and NSW, strengthening the grid and enabling Australia’s renewable energy future. As a key delivery partner, Iberdrola is expanding its Investment Office and seeking a Financial Model & Reporting Analyst to support the development and oversight of the project’s investment model.

About the role
Reporting directly to the Project Investment Lead, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining the core investment model that underpins VNI West’s commercial structure, government engagement and internal decision-making.

This role is suited to someone who is technically strong, analytically sharp and curious, with a passion for infrastructure economics, energy markets or large-scale capital projects. You will work alongside a dynamic investment and strategy team, collaborating with senior stakeholders in Australia and Iberdrola’s global offices.

  • Build, adapt and maintain complex financial models that meet both government and Iberdrola requirements.
  • Incorporate construction, operational, tax, debt, valuation and risk inputs, including scenario and sensitivity analysis.
  • Ensure models are robust, auditable and ready for review by government and external consultants.
  • Prepare investment papers, financial summaries, commercial assessments and Board-ready reporting.
  • Translate model outputs into clear, commercially relevant insights for senior leaders.
  • Contribute to commercial structures, pricing mechanisms and value-driver analysis.
  • Provide inputs for pre-construction and PMO teams as required.
  • Support key project milestones including submissions, audits and investment reviews.

About you

We’re looking for someone who's easy-going, proactive and collaborative, with strong commercial intuition and the confidence to ask questions. You thrive in fast-paced environments and bring a team-focused, solution-oriented approach.

  • Experience in energy, infrastructure, utilities, Big 4 transactions or investment teams
  • At least 2-4 years’ experience in financial modelling, project finance, infrastructure investment, valuation, M&A or treasury
  • Strong Excel capability, including scenarios, sensitivities and macros/VBA
  • Solid understanding of financial, accounting and valuation metrics
  • Fast learner with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
  • Clear communicator who works well with others

The Benefits

  • Work on one of the most significant energy infrastructure projects in Australia.
  • Direct exposure to senior leaders, government partners and global project teams.
  • Be part of a mission-driven organisation accelerating the clean energy transition.
  • Access to global expertise, European capability and world-class development standards.
  • Career pathways across investment, strategy, M&A, energy markets and international rotations.

Location & Flexibility

  • Based in Melbourne (hybrid flexibility available).
  • Very occasional travel to Sydney and internal workshops.
  • Flexibility required for meetings across time zones, particularly with Spain.
