Reporting directly to the CEO, this is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day finance function while providing commercial insights and strategic support to the executive team. You'll lead a small team, drive continuous improvement initiatives and play a key role in supporting the ongoing growth and success of the business.


About the Role

Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the day-to-day finance function and maintaining the integrity of the general ledger
  • Preparing monthly management reports, budgets, forecasts and cash flow projections
  • Monitoring cash flow requirements and managing banking relationships and finance facilities
  • Processing weekly payroll for approximately 20 employees using Xero
  • Overseeing the processing of progress claims and invoicing, and monitoring project profitability
  • Producing and analysing Work in Progress (WIP) reports and investigating variances
  • Managing statutory compliance including BAS, IAS, Payroll Tax, Superannuation, FBT, TPAR, WorkCover and QLeave
  • Managing QBCC reporting, Minimum Financial Requirements (MFR) compliance and Project Trust Accounts
  • Coordinating insurance renewals, claims management and external audits
  • Leading, mentoring and supporting two direct reports while driving process improvements across the finance function

About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or similar senior finance position
  • Previous experience within the construction, civil or project-based industries
  • Solid knowledge of project accounting, progress claims and Work in Progress reporting
  • Demonstrated experience with cash flow forecasting, budgeting and management reporting
  • Sound understanding of QBCC requirements, Project Trust Accounts and MFR obligations will be highly regarded
  • CA or CPA qualifications (or working towards) preferred but not essential
