Our client is a respected Local Government organisation seeking an experienced finance professional to provide critical support during a busy end-of-financial-year period. With a major finance system implementation underway and key finance leaders focused on strategic priorities, this role will play an important part in ensuring business-as-usual operations and EOFY deliverables continue seamlessly.
About the Role
An opportunity exists for an immediately available Financial Business Partner to join the finance team on a 6–8 week contract.
Working closely with the Manager Finance, Financial Accountant and Management Accountant, you will provide hands-on support across financial and management accounting functions while assisting with end-of-year reporting, audit preparation and financial statement development.
This role requires a senior finance professional who can quickly integrate into the team, manage competing priorities and provide practical support with minimal onboarding.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting end-of-financial-year processes and reporting requirements
- Assisting with annual financial statement preparation and audit readiness
- General ledger maintenance, reconciliations and journal processing
- Financial reporting, analysis and modelling
- Budget support and variance analysis
- Preparation of returns, acquittals and statutory reporting requirements
- Supporting business-as-usual finance operations during a period of change
- Providing senior finance support to the broader team as required
About You
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- Demonstrated Local Government finance experience within an Australian council environment
- CPA or CA ANZ qualification
- Strong financial accounting experience, including annual financial statements and audit preparation
- Advanced knowledge of end-of-financial-year processes and statutory reporting requirements
- Experience across general ledger management, reconciliations, reporting and financial analysis
- Strong financial modelling and budgeting capabilities
- The ability to work autonomously and deliver immediate value in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
Candidates without Local Government experience and CPA or CA ANZ qualifications will not be considered.
