The Northern Territory PHN (NTPHN) is committed to fostering the best health and well-being outcomes for local communities. Their vision includes establishing a robust, high-quality primary healthcare system throughout the Territory. With a focus on achieving outcomes, forging resilient local partnerships and strategically directing funding from various government levels, their goal is to empower individuals to manage their health and well-being effectively and improve access to quality healthcare services for NT communities.
In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for enhancing access to high-quality, sustainable primary health care across the NT. You will lead a division focused on workforce development, sector capacity building, and health system reform—delivering impact where it's needed most.
The role provides executive leadership to the Rural Workforce Agency (RWA) NT, a Commonwealth-funded initiative supporting recruitment, retention, and development of skilled and culturally competent health professionals. You’ll oversee the design and delivery of innovative programs and continuous quality improvement efforts to strengthen the primary care sector. You will develop and maintain strong senior-level stakeholder relationships and promote strategic partnerships, champion co-design approaches, and represent NT interests in local and national advisory forums.
As part of the NT PHN Senior Executive Leadership Team, you will also contribute to the organisation’s broader strategic priorities, including financial oversight, risk management, and organisational performance.
To succeed in this role, you will bring senior leadership experience in health workforce or primary care program delivery, strong strategic thinking and stakeholder engagement skills, and a proven track record in managing complex initiatives and achieving reform outcomes. Exceptional written and verbal communication, negotiation, and presentation skills are essential for engaging with key stakeholders and driving positive change.
You will be proficient in applying program and project management methodologies to lead complex initiatives, with a contemporary and adaptable leadership style that fosters innovation, collaboration, and continuous development. Leveraging strong conceptual, analytical, and diagnostic abilities, you will navigate complex challenges and implement effective solutions that enhance both organisational performance and strategic outcomes.
