- High-impact Executive role at the centre of Melbourne Water’s core value chain
- Enterprise leadership driving reliability, resilience and lifecycle performance
- Drive governance, prioritisation and execution excellence across operational programs
Melbourne Water plays a critical role in protecting and enhancing Melbourne’s liveability, sustainability and resilience. As custodian of one of Victoria’s most significant asset-intensive networks, Melbourne Water delivers essential services that support customers, communities and Melbourne’s way of life.
We are seeking a highly regarded executive leader to join Melbourne Water as Executive General Manager Service & Asset Lifecycle, a strategically critical enterprise leadership role sitting at the centre of the organisation’s core value chain. This is an opportunity requiring a commercially astute, technically credible and influential executive who can translate long-term service strategy into practical delivery plans, while ensuring safety, reliability, resilience and performance across a large and complex strategic asset portfolio.
The Opportunity
As EGM Service & Asset Lifecycle you will have enterprise accountability for translating strategy into integrated programs of work, including both asset and non-asset solutions that enable sustainable service delivery outcomes. Acting as the critical link between strategy and operational execution, this role will provide disciplined leadership across a major asset-intensive portfolio while strengthening asset capability, improving delivery performance, and building confidence across people, systems and stakeholders.
You will drive governance, prioritisation and execution excellence across capital and operational programs, while strengthening strategic and tactical asset management capability to improve reliability, resilience and lifecycle performance. Leading through technical complexity across infrastructure, engineering, operational technology and service delivery environments, this executive will build strong partnerships across strategy, operations, government, regulators and key stakeholders. Success in the role will require the ability to create clarity across commercial, operational, regulatory and community priorities, and foster a high-performing culture focused on accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
About You
You are an enterprise-minded executive who brings scale, technical credibility and disciplined leadership across complex asset-intensive environments. You will have a track record of leading large-scale, asset-intensive and operationally complex environments including regulated sectors such as water, utilities, energy, transport infrastructure, rail, ports, airports, heavy industry, manufacturing, mining or aligned linear asset environments.
You will bring technical credibility, commercial acumen and disciplined leadership across the full asset lifecycle and capital delivery, with demonstrated success in strategic planning, operational execution, asset optimisation and performance improvement. In addition, you will possess strong governance capability, sound judgement and political astuteness, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder, regulatory and public-facing environments while translating technical complexity into practical, commercially balanced outcomes. Importantly, you are highly regarded for your collaborative, influential and high-impact leadership style to bring an organisation along on the journey. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering are preferred, with postgraduate commercial qualifications such as an MBA highly regarded.
Why Melbourne Water?
This is a rare opportunity to lead at scale within one of Victoria’s most important public service organisations, shaping infrastructure performance, long-term resilience, service outcomes and Melbourne’s future liveability. If you are an enterprise leader who thrives at the intersection of strategy, delivery and public value, and can bring structure, clarity and disciplined execution to complexity, we welcome your interest.
