- Lead a complex, values-led education system at executive level
- Shape strategy, alignment and change across a diverse portfolio
- Join a mission-centred organisation influencing education at scale
About the Client and Role
The Anglican Church Southern Queensland is a significant and values-led organisation serving the community through a broad network of parishes, schools, education and care services, community services, ministry education, and social justice initiatives. Within this environment, the Anglican Schools Commission (ASC) plays a central role in providing strategic direction, policy oversight, and support to Anglican schools and Education and Care Services across the Diocese.
This is a substantial executive leadership opportunity at the centre of a complex and evolving education system. Reporting at senior level and contributing as a member of the Diocesan Leadership Team, the Executive Director will lead across a broad and diverse portfolio, bringing alignment, cohesion, and strategic clarity across multiple functions, leaders, and stakeholder groups.
This is a true leader-of-leaders opportunity, suited to an executive who can bring senior leaders together, build alignment around a shared purpose, and strengthen consistency across the broader system while respecting the unique needs and contexts of different teams and communities. The role works closely across finance, risk, student protection, mission, early learning, people and culture, Indigenous education, and other senior functions, collaborating with key stakeholders across schools, affiliate schools, diocesan services, parishes, ministry, community services, and central support functions to enable alignment, connection, and shared organisational outcomes.
The role calls for strong system thinking, sound judgement, and the ability to work collegially across a diverse and interconnected network. Success will depend on navigating competing priorities thoughtfully, influencing with credibility, and leading with both strategic perspective and operational discipline to support shared outcomes across the system.
This is an opportunity to shape the future state of a broad and important education environment while contributing to a mission-centred organisation grounded in Christian faith and Anglican identity.
About You
You are a highly collaborative and strategically minded executive with credibility, judgement, and relational capability to lead in a complex stakeholder environment.
You bring demonstrated experience leading broad operational, corporate, or shared services portfolios, along with the ability to lead other senior leaders and align diverse teams around common goals. You are commercially astute, politically aware, and comfortable balancing competing priorities across an interconnected system.
You will also bring strong capability across governance, risk, compliance and policy, together with the communication skills and emotional intelligence to build trust quickly and lead thoughtfully through change. In addition to working effectively with senior stakeholders across the Diocese, schools and broader system, you will be a visible and collaborative leader for the Anglican Schools Office team, recognising each person’s contribution, strengthening culture and bringing people together around a shared purpose.
A strong understanding of education will be highly valued, along with an appreciation for the opportunities and responsibilities of working within a complex, values-based environment. The successful candidate will bring senior leadership experience, strong business and operational acumen, and the judgement to lead effectively across a diverse stakeholder landscape. Just as important will be humility, authenticity, and a clear sense of purpose.
It is important that the successful candidate is comfortable working within a Christian faith setting and able to play a meaningful role in supporting the values and mission of the organisation. They will bring genuine alignment with the broader purpose of the community they serve.
