Executive Director Legacy and Impact

Government & Defence

  • Shape the future of Queensland’s communities through innovation, inclusion, and collaboration
  • Five-year fixed term executive appointment – Brisbane-based
  • Play a once-in-a-lifetime leadership role with a legacy extending to 2042

The Department

The Department of Sport, Racing and Olympic and Paralympic Games (DSROPG) plays a central role in delivering the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and maximising its long-term benefits for Queensland.

Through the Olympic and Paralympic Games Office (OPGO), we lead the coordination of whole-of-Government responsibilities for the Games, partnering with local, state and federal agencies, the Organising Committee, and industry to ensure the Games are delivered on time, on budget, and with enduring social and economic value. We are building a diverse and inclusive organisation that values innovation, agility, and collaboration - reflecting the spirit and ambition of the Games themselves.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Deputy Director-General, Olympic and Paralympic Games Office, the Executive Director, Legacy and Impact will lead the design, coordination and delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Legacy and Impact agenda.

This is a dynamic and influential executive role that will shape how the Games deliver benefits that endure far beyond 2032 - driving programs that change lives and strengthen communities across Queensland.

The role will lead implementation of the Games Legacy Plan, overseeing initiatives that span accessibility and inclusion, First Nations engagement, sustainability, tourism, trade, and procurement innovation. As Chair of the Legacy and Impact Coordination Committee, the Executive Director will bring together Federal, State and Local Government representatives and key partners to ensure alignment and measurable outcomes across the whole-of-Games legacy program.

This is a unique opportunity for a strategic and outcomes-driven leader to operate at the highest levels of government, influence across complex stakeholder environments, and turn vision into real-world impact.

Your Impact

In this role you will:

  • Lead and coordinate the delivery of the Brisbane 2032 Legacy and Impact framework to realise lasting social, economic, environmental, and connectivity outcomes.
  • Drive creative, practical, and measurable initiatives that build inclusion, sustainability, and community benefit.
  • Build and maintain partnerships across Federal, State, and Local Governments, as well as the Australian Olympic Committee, Paralympics Australia, and industry.
  • Champion innovation, collaboration, and accountability across a growing multidisciplinary team.
  • Oversee the design and implementation of programs, evaluation frameworks, and funding mechanisms under the Legacy Strategy.
  • Act as a key ambassador and public voice for Queensland’s legacy outcomes – communicating impact through media, partnerships, and storytelling.

About You

You are an energetic, creative, and strategic leader with a track record of delivering meaningful outcomes in complex, multi-stakeholder environments - such as major international events, government, or global development initiatives.

You will bring:

  • Proven experience leading major programs or legacy initiatives of national or international significance.
  • Sophisticated stakeholder and political awareness, with the ability to align diverse interests and build enduring partnerships.
  • Strength in governance, planning, and delivery frameworks to translate strategy into measurable outcomes.
  • The ability to inspire and lead high-performing teams in fast-paced, start-up-style environments.
  • A genuine passion for innovation, community impact, and creating enduring public value.
