- Contribute to the improvement of mental healthcare
- Shape the future of psychiatric education and training in Australia and New Zealand
- Lead innovation and excellence in mental health education at a bi-national College
The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) is the professional body responsible for training, educating, and representing psychiatrists in Australia and New Zealand. Committed to excellence and equity in mental healthcare, the RANZCP supports its members and advocates for improved mental health outcomes across its communities. The College’s work focuses on enhancing psychiatric education, promoting access and equity through advocacy and collaboration, and fostering a connected, contemporary organisation that benefits both its members and the public. Governed by a Board of Directors, RANZCP operates with a dedicated team and numerous committees, maintaining strong relationships with governments and key stakeholders across both countries.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Executive Dean of Education is responsible for leading the College’s education portfolio, including the development and delivery of innovative programs, strategies, and policies across Australia and New Zealand. Working closely with the Board, committees, and the education taskforce, the Executive Dean will drive the revision of the Fellowship Program and ensure compliance with accreditation standards set by the Australian and New Zealand Medical Councils. The role also leads the education department, fostering a collaborative, values-based culture that ensures the College’s education programs are contemporary, inclusive, sustainable, and responsive to the needs of trainees, Fellows, and the wider profession. As Executive Dean, you will effectively be responsible for driving innovation and positioning psychiatry as a profession of choice through contemporary learning and development. You will also play a critical role in embedding lived and living experience into the College’s education programs, expanding its depth of impact alongside the College’s cultural safety framework and strong bi-national focus. In doing so, you will be part of shaping the solution to some of the most pressing mental health challenges facing our communities.
To be successful in this role, you will be a registered medical specialist with extensive experience working within large education or training organisations. You have demonstrable experience in governance, accreditation, and change management, with a strong understanding of postgraduate assessment processes and the regulatory frameworks shaping professional education. You combine strategic vision with operational competence – confident managing budgets, building high-performing teams, and leading large-scale programs. Entrepreneurial and curious, you bring a strong social justice lens to your work and are driven by your passion for delivering best practice in stakeholder engagement.
This role offers flexible employment arrangements (0.6–1.0 FTE) to accommodate candidates who wish to maintain existing clinical practice commitments.
