The Opportunity

A Utilities organisation are seeking a SCADA Engineering Lead to be the SME for a major SCADA migration. You’ll lead the technical delivery of a SCADA transformation project impacting 90% of the organisation and affecting critical systems across the enterprise. This is an initial 3-year Fixed Term contract, with strong scope to go full-time. They will consider daily rate contract for the right person.

The Role

As the technical lead for the SCADA migration, you’ll work closely with engineers, IT, subcontractors and vendors to modernise and futureproof the network.

  • Act as the organisation’s representative in vendor design discussions and technical approvals
  • Oversee engineering, maintenance, IT, subcontractors and vendor contributions across the SCADA network
  • Be the go-to SME for all things SCADA and the technical face of the migration
  • Collaborate with a dedicated PM and report directly to senior leadership, including board-level stakeholders
  • Manage stakeholder engagement across Operations, IT, OT, Engineering and Project Delivery teams
  • Ensure best practice is followed across alarm management, HMI design, comms networks and system architecture

About You

You're a critical thinker with extensive SCADA experience, including control systems, able to lead enterprise-wide transformation with confidence.

  • Registered professional electrical engineer within Victoria (mandatory– per state registration laws)
  • Strong technical background in SCADA upgrades, industrial communication networks and alarm management
  • Demonstrated experience with HMI, graphic display, and human factors in control systems
  • Skilled communicator with proven stakeholder and vendor management capability
  • Able to confidently work in high-profile, senior-stakeholder environments with minimal supervision
  • Comfortable moving between design and delivery phases with the flexibility to work across office and site
